Dane-a-Thon May 7, 2017 ~ Follow up!

Posted by on May 15, 2017 in Danes in Distress | Comments Off on Dane-a-Thon May 7, 2017 ~ Follow up!

After a week of almost non-stop rain, we lucked out by getting a 10° sunny day for our 2017 Dane-a-Thon at our new venue – the Paris Fairgrounds. We’re planning to hold our 2018 event at the same location.  Feedback we’ve been getting tells us that all 304 participants (and 127 dogs) had a great time, enjoying the dog racing, agility, fun/games and the walk which ended up at the pond. A little cool for swimming but a few brave ones ventured into the water and had fun. We thank those who attended, took time to get pledges, donated their time by volunteering and the businesses that donated food and water for the BBQ booth. As always, a big ‘thumbs up’ to the volunteers who organized the event and made it happen. Sherri Davis’ team from BRB who ran the games/agility and donated the prizes for these activities did an outstanding job and we also extend a ‘Thank You’ to them for keeping the dogs (and people) entertained.  The web page for the Award Winners will be posted shortly, as will all 559 photos of the good times in our Dane-a-Thon 2017 Gallery.  The DiD Volunteer Team   View Awards View Complete...

Unfortunately, Dr. Greg Hutchison (dog massages) and our nail clipping team had to cancel so these activities will not be available. We’re looking forward to seeing all the familiar faces and new ones tomorrow. We depend on the proceeds from this, our biggest annual fund-raiser, to cover a large portion of our annual vet costs, so come in a spending mood...

BREAKING NEWS !!!

Posted by on Mar 25, 2017 in Danes in Distress | Comments Off on BREAKING NEWS !!!

Our 2017 Dane-a-Thon is being held at: The Paris Fairgrounds 139 Silver Street, Paris, ON Since 2009, Tom Krizsan (Thomasfield Homes) has generously donated the use of his property for our Dane-a-Thons on the understanding that, eventually, the property would be developed. That is now happening. We had planned to stage the 2017 event at a beautiful estate property (another of Tom’s properties) located at 22 Ebycrest Road, Breslau, but had some concerns about the location and safety issues for the Danes, leading to investigation of other options for the venue. We thank Tom Krizsan for his past support which has allowed us to grow our organization since 2009. We are thrilled and excited to announce that our NEW 2017 Dane-a-Thon location will be held on the Valley Ring location at the Paris Fairgrounds. This partially fenced-in site is comprised of 10 acres with a pond in our area for the Danes to enjoy their DaT splash-and-swim. We’re looking forward to meeting up with old friends again, meeting new ones and having another great event on May 7th,...
