BREAKING NEWS !!!

Our 2017 Dane-a-Thon is being held at: The Paris Fairgrounds 139 Silver Street, Paris, ON Since 2009, Tom Krizsan (Thomasfield Homes) has generously donated the use of his property for our Dane-a-Thons on the understanding that, eventually, the property would be developed. That is now happening. We had planned to stage the 2017 event at a beautiful estate property (another of Tom’s properties) located at 22 Ebycrest Road, Breslau, but had some concerns about the location and safety issues for the Danes, leading to investigation of other options for the venue. We thank Tom Krizsan for his past support which has allowed us to grow our organization since 2009. We are thrilled and excited to announce that our NEW 2017 Dane-a-Thon location will be held on the Valley Ring location at the Paris Fairgrounds. This fenced-in site is comprised of 10 acres with a pond in our area for the Danes to enjoy their DaT splash-and-swim. We’re looking forward to meeting up with old friends again, meeting new ones and having another great event on May 7th,...

Dane-a-Thon May 15, 2016 ~ Follow up!

Posted by on May 29, 2016 in Danes in Distress | Comments Off on Dane-a-Thon May 15, 2016 ~ Follow up!

Our 26th Dane-a-Thon was a huge success with 230 people and 133 dogs (123 Great Danes!) in attendance. The weather was cold, with occasional sleet/snow flurries, but that didn’t deter the many Dane enthusiasts who attended. The tents somehow managed to remain upright despite the wind and the number of attendees far surpassed our expectations. Everyone had a great time, with the dogs having a barrel of fun. We’re sure there were lots of doggy (and human) snores on Sunday night! A special ‘Thank You’ goes to our Vet, Dr. Ken Burgess; our chef, Vassily Salytchev, for providing welcome hot meals; Sherri Davis and her training team from BRB K9 Services for answering participants’ behavioural questions and provided dog games. Our thanks go to all the volunteers and donors who made it possible to celebrate our 60th Anniversary of rescuing Great Danes, and those who attended to make the event a huge success.
