Meet Duke!

He’s a 4 year old, sweet and sensitive guy with a cautious yet goofy nature. He approaches new experiences with a hesitant enthusiasm.

Duke has had  a somewhat complicated past. These experiences left him a little developmentally behind, when he first arrived into rescue. Despite his mistakes, Duke generally tried to do the right thing and make the right choices.

His intentions are good and his eagerness to learn and follow fair directions is obvious. When he is feels he is in unsafe or ‘stuck’ in a social situation (albeit by his own doing occasionally) he will become nervous and defensive.

With consistency, clear rules and structure Duke has been able to form many trusted relationships with people and dogs. He continues to move through his emotional and developmental rehabilitation which has been a joy to watch unfold. He is currently going through his emotional adolescence and young adulthood. This has brought with it a little bit of courage and independence which we’ve seen expressed in his play behaviours.

He is a loving guy who enjoys all the typical Dane activities like lap-sitting, couch lounging and curling into unbelievably small balls to sleep.

He will need a diligent and patient handler who is willing to continue working with him under the guidance of his behaviour & training team.  A single person or couple but not a busy household with children.
