Foster Application

Step 1 of 8 - Qualifying Criteria

    The first few questions will verify that you are eligible to foster for us. If you are unsure about your eligibility, see our guidelines for eligibility in the Can you Foster?.

    If you qualify, the Next button will appear and you can start filling out the Application - otherwise, we cannot accept your Application at this time.

  • Qualifying Criteria

    For safety reasons, Danes in Distress does not foster with families who have children under 8 years old.
    We do not foster with occupants of high-rise buildings.
  • As you progress through the Application, each section will be verified for required answers before you can progress to the next page.

    Alone means without human company. REGULARLY means on a daily basis. e.g. If you work 8 hours daily, then the total time the Dane will be left alone must be entered as 8 unless you have made arrangements for someone to visit with your Dane in your absence.

  • e.g. dog bed, foam pad, small mattress, etc.
    Younger Danes will require regular, daily exercise for proper bone growth and muscular development.
  • Exercise in your back yard will not be adequate for a Dane unless you live in a rural setting and have acreage.
    Younger Danes will require some off leash exercise in secure areas.
  • We require 2 personal references.
